EcoTeq’s Mean Green Fury offers up to seven hours of continuous operation on a single charge, and a twin-blade, 32″ cutting width make this mower a very attractive standup option for lawn-care professionals.
We covered most of the important facets of the FURY in the November/December 2023 issue, but for those with short memories, here’s a quick catch up…
The FURY is a compact and highly manoeuvrable electric mower built for all-day professional use. Super-low noise output allows more ground cover without the risk of public disturbance, and the advanced Impulse Drive System – IDS™ – outputs the equivalent of a 24hp internal-combustion engine, making it competitive with any conventionally fuelled mower in its class.
Coupled with a lightweight aircraft-alloy construction and a low centre of gravity, FURY is built for stability when tracking slopes up to 15°, and delivers up to seven hours of continuous mowing on a single battery charge.

From the drivers’ seat
LCM test driver Matt Wandmaker hurled himself behind the controls and set the FURY in motion.
We’d love to say Matt ‘roared into action’, but the FURY is so quiet that would be a totally unfair thing to say. The 83dB operating volume is definitely a highlight of this machine.
Another aspect of the FURY which struck us very quickly was, although it seems to have plenty of grunt – the 5.5kW deck motor and 6.8kW drive motor give EcoTeq’s Mean Green FURY the equivalent of 24hp – it’s very compact and will work in some surprisingly confined spaces. The twin-blade 32” cutting width is a bit smaller than some machines we test, but we felt it more than made up for a narrower cut by getting into places a larger deck simply couldn’t. At the end of the day, it meant less tidying up to do with the push mower, less time pushing a mower, and that makes for a substantial saving in time.
The Ecoteq Mean Green FURY will also handle slopes up to 15°. While we didn’t have an incline of that magnitude to attempt, there was a reasonable 10° or 12° run available, and the FURY certainly has a stable feeling such that we wouldn’t hesitate to make the attempt at a steeper slope.
As for cutting, Matt summed it up well: “It’s a good, versatile machine,” he offered, “particularly for contractors wanting to get into tight-access areas.”
“The cut was really nice,” he continued. “We had the mulcher on the machine and we had cutting a little bit lower than normal to see how it’d cope, and it was terrific.”
After some discussion it was agreed the EcoTeq was more comfortable than other stand-ons we’d tried, largely due to what was perceived to be a smoother ride.
Matt had one other interesting hands-on observation.
“It would take a little getting used to, but there’s a light system in front of the operator. There are two lights. If you have green light, everything’s hunky-dory. Orange light means maybe not enough revs or an excessive load in heavy going, and the operator should slow down.
“It’s a bit intuitive, and it’s quite good.”

Nice additions
So there you have it. EcoTeq’s Mean Green Fury was everything we’d hoped for and more.
There were some really nice touches around the mower which we didn’t notice at first but become apparent as we settled in and started work. These included a phone holder, USB charge port and thigh pad – which sounds like a bit of a luxury, and so it was! It made a long session standing on the plate a very great deal more comfortable. The drive speed and blade speed could both be switched between high and low, and the touchscreen display made for very easy operation.
All in all, we were very impressed. The FURY is clearly professional-grade equipment, quiet, compact and a pleasure to use.
